urbanest hosted An Evening With Sir Vince Cable on Tuesday night at urbanest Westminster Bridge, where students enjoyed refreshments, spectacular views, and most importantly some keen insight on matters from domestic policy to the current geopolitical landscape from one of the longest serving politicians in the UK.
The event explored the Liberal Democrat leader’s positions on Brexit, international trade and student fees – among some of the most pressing policy areas currently being debated.
The discussion, attended by around 80 residents from the property also covered Sir Vince’s time in the coalition government, his expectations for the British economy and the direction that he wants to take the Liberal Democrats since becoming leader. Sir Vince, former chief economist and Shell, was also a research fellow at the LSE during the early 2000s having taken his undergraduate degree in economics at Cambridge.
The discussion with Sir Vince marks the beginning of a series of seminars hosted by Urbanest, giving our residents access to the thoughts and opinions of industry leaders in everything from politics to entertainment, journalism to sports. The series will continue throughout this coming academic year, reflecting urbanest’s commitment to providing the ideal environment for academic thought and discussion.
