Following the Government’s announcement this week, our properties remain open and operational in accordance with current restrictions.
Vaccinations are now available for all adults, and you can book your vaccine here.
If you are entering the country from overseas, full details on quarantining requirements can be found here. Urbanest are able to assist with any residents joining us from ‘Green’ or ‘Amber’ countries.
urbanest remain committed to supporting you on your arrival, to ensure your check in and arrival are as comfortable as possible please ensure you have read the requirements for the country you are traveling from here.
urbanest is committed to supporting our residents, employees and communities by acting in a responsible manner and following expert advice from Public Health England to minimise the risk of infection being spread. As always, urbanest continues to work closely with our university partners to support each resident’s specific study needs.

Our team are still here to help & support
- Our team are providing contactless check-in & return to property support
- We will continue to be onsite 24/7, providing assistance, accepting deliveries and supporting you if you need to self-isolate.
- We will continue to work with our internet partner (Glide) to maximise bandwidth coming into each property, helping make sure you can access all your online study materials.
- We have increased our out of hours telephone support, allowing you to make ‘non-emergency’ requests to the team onsite who will then contact you directly
- We’ll continue to keep you ‘Covid-safe’
In addition to the current Government regulations, you are not allowed to meet socially indoors, or in private outside spaces, with people you do not live with – this includes private homes or flats, student accommodation and common rooms. Pubs and restaurants are also only able to offer takeaway.
To help support our community and keep everyone safe, this means the following additional measures will be in place at all urbanest buildings;
- Common rooms and spaces remain open for use by 1 household (flat) at a time.
- 1 Guest may be invited into the property per resident.
- Our fitness areas are open , please see the signage in your building for how this may have changed.
We would also ask that you continue to follow all Government advice and remember ‘Hands, Face, Space’;
- Wash your hands regularly for at least 20 seconds
- Cover your face including when inside urbanest, in the shops or on public transport
- Make space and keep at least 1 metre apart at all times.

Property Hygiene
The cleanliness of our properties remains of utmost importance to us. We have reviewed and made changes to our cleaning programme to reflect the current situation; including increasing our cleaning frequency, adding additional hand sanitiser units at all properties and ensuring our team are trained to manage any potential positive COVID-19 infections within the building. Our disinfectant cleaning fluids contain specific viricidal compounds to help combat the risk of infection.
Self-Isolation
If you develop any of the symptoms below, live with someone who has these symptoms, feel you are at risk of infection or feel you need to self-isolate please remain in your room and follow NHS 111 guidance:
- a high temperature
- a new, continuous cough
- a loss of, or change to, your sense of smell or taste

If you are asked to self-isolate, please contact us as soon as possible on +44 (0)20 7042 7890 so we can help and support you. You must also follow the Test and Trace procedure, information for which can be found by visiting this website.

Coronavirus FAQ's
What are the symptoms of COVID-19 (Coronavirus)?
COVID-19 symptoms include the following:
- a high temperature
- a new, continuous cough
- a loss of, or change to, your sense of smell or taste
If you display symptoms or are concerned you may have symptoms, please use this link to guide you on next steps: NHS 111 coronavirus advice
Use NHS 111 for advice and do not visit your GP in-person without phoning them first and explaining the situation.
What are the precautionary measures I should take?
The recommended steps people should take to protect themselves are the same as those to avoid flu and any other similar respiratory infections. You should maintain good hand, respiratory and personal hygiene and avoid people who are ill with respiratory symptoms.
Below are the WHO recommendations:
- Frequently wash your hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or warm water and soap
- Cover your mouth and nose with a flexed elbow or tissue when sneezing or coughing
- Avoid close contact with anyone who has a fever or cough
- Seek early medical help if you have a fever, cough and difficulty breathing, and share your travel history with healthcare providers
What are the rules around public transport?
Face coverings must be worn for the full duration of journeys on the public transport network. Scientific advice says that face coverings can help reduce the chance of infecting others. See this page on Transport for London for more information.
What are the rules around Coronavirus?
urbanest are strictly following UK government guidance on COVID-19 to help ensure that our residents are safe and we are helping prevent the spread of the virus.

Can I have a guest to visit?
At this time 1 guest may be invited into the property per resident.
urbanest will continue to review our guest policy and should the current Government restrictions ease we will amend our guest policy accordingly.

What is the advice on international travel?
We strongly advise that you follow Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) travel advice during this time.

- If you’re an international student or citizen of another country, you should also review guidance from your local consulate or embassy
- If you have a scheduled flight, check with your airline for any changes to travel
Where can I get support if I am concerned over my health?
If you develop symptoms in the UK, stay indoors and avoid contact with others where possible.

Do not go to a GP practice in-person until you have received guidance from NHS 111 over the phone
You can find your nearest GP by using the GP finder on the NHS website, or read information about healthcare in the UK, including how to register with a doctor.
Can I end my contract early due to ‘Lockdown’?
At Urbanest, all of our buildings remain open and operational throughout lockdown. Our teams are working harder than ever to provide a safe and secure living environment.
Urbanest continue to operate our standard release request process, full details are available in your contract.
In recognition of the exceptional circumstances, we are pleased to offer a rent discount of up to 30%, backdated to the 4th January 2021 for the current lockdown period in England.
To qualify for this offer, the eligibility criteria are set out in full on the application form (available by contacting our Customer Support team via your Portal); they include that:

- You are not living in-residence at the moment;

- You have an up to date rent account or agreed payment plan; and
- You apply for support by the 26th January 2021
.
