As autumn leaves begin to fall and the moon comes out, London transforms into a haunting city for Halloween enthusiasts. There’s no shortage of ways to celebrate this spooky season in the capital, from haunted walks and eerie sightseeing to bone-chilling events and club nights. Whether you’re seeking a fun night out or a thrilling adventure, London’s Halloween events in 2024 deliver a bewitching experience for all. Join us as we uncover the best things to do in London for spooky season.

1. London Dungeon Halloween Experience

Explore the gruesome history of London through the London Dungeon where you’ll be whisked back through time and come face-to-face with the likes of Jack the Ripper. Make your way though the streets of Victorian London where you’ll experience an encounter with legendary psychic Agnes Guppy and her séances. Finally, place your hands on the Ouija board to meet one of Britain’s most prolific female killers, Mary Ann Cotton, if you dare!

2. Haunted Tours of London

Discover the most haunted locations and eerie tales on the streets of London. Choose London Ghost Walks led by Richard Jones, the renowned authority on the ghosts of London, who has been conducting walks around the haunted capital since 1982. You’ll visit London’s paranormally active locations, including cobbled streets, graveyards, and alleyways hearing the horrors that took place within them. You might even experience some supernatural activity—chilling!

Ghost bus tours are more of a theatrical sightseeing tour on a classic 1960’s bus, with on-board actors, tricks and treats. Also including a frightful tour of the city’s sights, the tour stops off at all the infamous murder, torture and execution locations. From the Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey over to St. Pauls’ Cathedral and the Tower of London, learn about the ghosts of London and the skeletons in the capital’s closets.

3. Halloween Pub Crawls

Get your costume on and your Bloody Mary cocktails at the ready for London’s Halloween Pub Crawl! These sell-out events, run annually, include spine-chilling adventures through haunted houses, dungeons, and more while you enjoy the best of London’s pub scene. One of the biggest and most popular events, the Central London Pub Crawl offers a complimentary shot at each venue, queue jump entry at London’s finest venues, and entertaining drinking games and freebies.

4. Kew Gardens Spooky Trails

Enjoy a spooktacular adventure at Kew Gardens with an illuminated haunted woods trail, with grinning glowing pumpkins, ghouls and wicked witches creeping around every corner. Perfect for friends and family, you can pair the tricks with treats with a delicious hot chocolate, toasted marshmallows and more.

5. Visit The Ten Bells

One of the most haunted pubs in London, The Ten Bells, is connected to the most well-known serial killer, Jack The Ripper. Standing on the corner of Commercial Street and Fournier Street, this pub has been said to be the waiting spot where Jack the Ripper planned his next victim.

Located near our City student accommodation, have a drink in the very place Jack the Ripper did. Or walk the streets where his victims were found through the Jack the Ripper Tour. Located just one minute away from The Ten Bells, discover the spot where Mary Kelly met Jack the Ripper at Christ Church Spitalfields, or visit the street where Annie Chapman’s body was found at 29 Hanbury Street, just behind the pub. Continue the trail with a 14 minute walk to Buck’s Row where Mary Ann Nichols was discovered.

6. Halloween Cocktail Making Class

Celebrate spooky season with a cocktail class to brew your own potions. Join the Cauldron London for Halloween Potion Making and learn how to brew your own drinks. Make an ectoplasm shot, enjoy a drink poured by magic wand, and take home your very own witch’s hat keepsake. This enchaining 1 hour and 35 minute experience is located in Soho near urbanest King’s Cross and in Dalston, East London near our Hoxton student accommodation.

7. Thames Thriller

Shiver me timbers! Welcome aboard London’s best Halloween speedboat experience – the Thames Thriller. Join the ghostly pirate crew for a 50-minute guided tour along the River Thames, where you’ll encounter London’s spooky sites accompanied by terrifying tales and facts. Pass by some of the most haunted places in the city, including the Tower of London, the shadows of Tower Bridge, and the darkening docklands.

8. Stay At The Langham Hotel

The most haunted hotel in London, experience luxury while keeping an eye out for ghostly sightings such as a Victorian doctor who roams the halls, a German prince moving through walls and doors that close themselves. Stay in room 333, their most haunted room, where guests have said to have seen someone dressed in Victorian evening wear hovering above the floor.

9. Spooky Movie Nights

Get cosy and enjoy some chilling horrors at one of the oldest ballrooms in London. The Rivoli Pop-up Cinema is located at Crofton Park and shows classic horror flicks during spooky season that will send shivers down your spine. Perfect for visiting with friends or family, they offer a 1950s bar serving ghoulish-themed cocktails to sip between screams.

10. The London Halloween Ball

Sold out 6 years in a row, the infamous Electric Brixton is hosting London’s biggest Halloween party and the spookiest show in the capital.
